Hello, and welcome to this edition of " Africa Express" here on China Radio International. I'm your host, Wei Tong.

Last time we enjoyed four African singers who sang a sweet love song, The Moon Represents My Heart, at the grand evening party Africa Night in Beijing.

Africa Night was held by GAAS, the Group of African Ambassadors' Spouses, and sponsored by many influential enterprises at home and abroad. GAAS is an organization established nearly 20 years ago, which is dedicated to charities in. So why did it hold such an activity? Any promotion to China-Africa friendship? Please stay tuned…

"Ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to invite the president for GAAS, Madame Mina Cherti."

"As you see it, the heat of Africa is not only of climatic order it comes especially from the heart and is translated in acts of generosities. Africa knows how to give when one needs. The GAAS activities offer in the same time the chance to discover the culture of the other one while making known ours. The exchange is opened. And it is fruitful."

Here is Mina Cherti, the president of GAAS, also wife of the Moroccan ambassador. She says Africa Night is a charitable activity. All the money collected from entry fee will be donated for charity in China to benefit impoverished people.

"Africa Night is the synonym of friendship and love. So for Africans, when they organize nights, it means that we share everything together. It means happiness for everybody, for the rich and the poor. When we collect the money, normally our supporters are All-China Women’s Federation. And we choose poor children and women to give the money. And we have another supporter that is the Association of the Former Diplomats of China. And before I ask them to whom they wish to give the money and we decide together. The relations between China and Africa are becoming strong. We are partners. So I think according to what we do, it is another way to see that Africans can help Chinese and establish good relations with Chinese."

Raffle draw is another highlight of the Africa Night. The prizes are sponsored by some enterprises to add more fun to the party.

Many guests are deep into the joy of the grand gala.

"Which country? Burundi in central Africa."

"What do you think of Africa Night?"

"It is good. We meet everyone. We enjoy, we dance, we eat, we share what we have. I am happy to be here."

One of the organizers of the Africa Night, Paula Nunes, wife of the ambassador of Mozambique, says the activity is a kind of a reward to China's assistance in Africa. They are planning to hold more activities to raise money for the poor and at the same time spread African culture among the Chinese public.

Paula says GAAS is planning to initiate a new programme next year which is to donate money for poor women in remote and rural areas of China because, as Paula says, children can get help only when their mothers are assisted.
